Morning of the Earth

Filmed by Sydney photographer Alby Fazon and released in 1972, “Morning of the Earth” is one of the greatest surfing films ever made, having been considered the second best surfing film of all time by Surfer magazine. With its psychedelic feel, images of rare beauty, and a touching original soundtrack, it reflects the very essence of an era.

Portraying an era of experiences and discovery in a clear, poetic fashion, and accompanied by the elegant sound of G. Wayne Thomas, the film features the waves of Uluwatu in Bali, Indonesia for the first time, with Rusty Miller and Stephen Cooney, amongst other locations. Also appearing alongside these two in “Morning of the Earth” are other surfers such as Chris Brock, Terry Fitzgerald, Barry Kanaiaupuni, Gerry Lopez, Michael Peterson, Baddy Treloar, Mark Warren, and Nat Young.
